My healing quilt

Tammy was feeling helpless down in Fl wondering how she could comfort me when she found out I had cancer. She decided to make me a healing quilt, even though she is burned out from sewing so many quilts in the last 25 years, I believe this one was made with such love and compassion, it shows with every stitch.

She started by shopping for material after work on Thursday, July 18th and went to several stores before finding colors and patterns that I was sure to love (purple is my favorite, in case you haven't guessed.) She began cutting out squares that very night. Sewing them together after work on Friday.

Sewing all day Saturday. Then layering all the layers together, the squares, the batting and the backing. Pinned them all together, cut off the excess, sewed all around the edges except for 10 inches. Turned it inside out and stitched closed the opening.

Olive Baptist Church By Sunday she had the quilt almost finished and her friend at church wanted to see it so she took it to church with her. She didn't know I was going to be watching the very same service on the live stream. What a wonderful service it was. I so appreciate the way Dr. Traylor preaches and the worship songs are like listening to a choir of angels. The first song the church sang was 'I have the Victory'. Since I was feeling too poorly to attend my home church, I needed that reminder that I do have the victory even when satan is filling me up with his lies. Pastor preached on John 3:1-10 which is extraordinary because that is my salvation passage.  So there Tammy is sitting with my secret quilt and I was looking for them in the congregation when the cameras moved around the auditorium but I never caught a glimpse. When I texted her to tell her I was watching, she made sure the quilt was hidden from view.
After church, she tied the layers together with embroidery floss and then attached the perfect size ladybug buttons randomly among the flowers.
. She put it in the mail on Monday and here I am on Wednesday the 24th right before I had to leave for the oncologist appointment to find out results from my PET scan.

When she asked me if I read the message that she sewed on to the back of the quilt, I didn't know there was one but then I decided, No, I'll wait and read it at my next chemo tx. Give me something to look forward to.

8/1/13 Here I am in my chemo chair waiting to be hooked up. I read the beautiful message and I realized what a labor of love Tammy put into this quilt with her God given talent. Many of you might not know that Tammy was the one that led me to the Lord with the help of her friend, Sandy Lawrence. I will carry this quilt to all my appointments to remind me of the love I have from not only my friends and family but most importantly from my Savior, Jesus Christ. Thank you Tammy.

I think they liked pretending to be firemen.

Nevaeh working in pizza place with a few new friends.

I wonder how high she would have climbed?

Christmas with my girls

Ella wanted to go play and Danielle was trying very hard to pretend she liked the gift we gave her. I think she was hoping for another Barbie doll but she had to settle for a musical jewelry box. These girls are so precious to me and Papa.

Four generations

Thanksgiving dinner was at Theresa & Richard's condo this year. Dan brought Ella and Danielle.  Alison put in an appearance on the way to her in-laws but Breigh stayed awhile. Kayla & Nevaeh came so we decided to get a picture taken of the four generations.

Ella is 2 Years Old

Friends and family were so excited to share in the happiness of Ella's 2nd birthday but Ella was the most excited with all the toys she received. Here she is opening a doll given to her from Grandpa Nedrow. Sister Kathleen and Nana, in the background, watching the smiles!
