Why didn't I work until 3:30 am when I had the chance?!? Would have been easy money! The nurse, I hitched a ride from, worked over and they asked me if I would too. I almost said yes but I wanted to get out of there more than I wanted $100. I usually love my job but it's so stressful sometimes with the complaints from the CENA's and from the residents. Since our supervisor has been on sick leave (5 months now) things have gone downhill on our 3 to 11 shift. Almost all the CENA's have an 'Attitude'. A nurse and 4 CENA's are leaving May 1. We were already short a CENA because one just got fired for alleged sexual abuse (which I don't believe because most of these residents are delusional but that's another story). I have been there 4 years this month and I have seen alot of nurses, CENA's and, even management staff leave since then. The supervisor that hired me was fired and so was the one that fired Theresa. Kitchen staff and office workers have left for greener pastures, not by choice. I thought the turnaround was bad at the hospital but it's even worse here. I miss some CENA's like Sandra who went to be a masseuse; Claudette who met a guy on the internet and moved to Utah; Kim who became an RN and is now at a hospital; Tiffany with her twin boys moved out to Arizona; Melissa who has alot of health problems; Tabitha left to babysit for Shannon but now has her own baby; Carrie, who loves my cracker toffee, got hurt at work; sweet little Ashley left to get married. Some CENA's I choose to forget because they didn't deserve to take care of our residents. There are a few CENA's that make my work easier and I can count on them to laugh at my jokes too. I have to mention Donna, Juna and Luke. They are the dream team. Luke is one of the CENA's leaving but he's getting hired as a LPN and will start in May. I just hope he comes to our shift. I know it's hard doing aide work but if they worked together it wouldn't be so hard on them. At least they make good money compared to other nursing homes.
I think I've moaned enough for one morning.

Snowing in April
I'm sitting at my desk, looking out the window and watching the snow fall on the bleeding hearts that have buds on them already. Wednesday it was so beautiful, I checked out the plants at Walmart but knew it was way too early to plant. Can't help but get excited about planting after the long winter indoors. My son in law is probably complaining today about this miserable Michigan weather probably because he was born and raised in beautiful sunny Pensacola, Florida. He's been living in Michigan for almost 18 years and he still isn't used to it. Michigan might have miserable winters but you can't find a better place to live from May to October. Tried living in Pensacola for 3 years (that's where our daughter met her husband) and couldn't breathe outdoors in the summer because of the heat and humidity. They have their good months when you don't have to have central air or heat going.
